Two accidents that resulted in deaths are reported in the last issue of the Flasher Hustler. -- The news of the sudden death of Alfred Christenson, of Dogtooth, is sad indeed. This estimable young man was married only a short time ago to a daughter of J.C. Palmer, a highly respected resident of that section. As near as we can learn the unfortunate accident was caused by an unruly team that ran away. Christenson was on a load of coal and as the team started he grabbed a chunk to hold on but failed and fell under the wheels the load passing over him and inflicting injuries that caused his death Tuesday morning.
Fate seems to be cruel to the dwellers around Dogtooth. Tuesday night [8/23/1910] another sad accident followed the one of Monday when Ole Wagseth, five miles southwest of Dogtooth, was killed by driving out over a high embankment only half a mile from his home [NW quarter of 30-133-85]. He was coming home from McIntosh and as it was pitch dark on account of all the smoke, he failed to see the road. The wagon and team must have turned over several times in descent. One of the horses was also killed. Deceased was a hardworking man and the accident is particularly shocking on account of following so closely after the one on Monday. The funeral took place today in Flasher. |
